Bismuth oxide based materials exhibit high ionic conductivity and have been proposed as suitable materials for electrolyte in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC’s).
Bismuth trioxide thin films have large energy bandgap, high refractive index, high photoconductivity, photosensitivity to ultraviolet radiation properties. Bismuth trioxide has a wide variety of applications: optical coatings, solar cells, components in electronic circuitry, recording layers in CDs and DVDs and gas and humidity sensors.
